A Life Devoted to God
From Gathaithi to the heights of the Church — a faithful journey
The life of Archbishop Johana Willie Kibe was a testament to God's grace. Born in the hills of Muranga, he rose through decades of faithful service to shepherd thousands across Kenya. This timeline will be enriched with his family's memories, diocesan records, and the stories of those he served.
Archbishop Johana Willie Kibe was born in Gathaithi, Muranga County — the same sacred ground that would receive him in final rest. His early years were shaped by faith, community, and a calling that grew stronger with every passing season.
With a heart set on serving the Lord, he pursued theological training and spiritual formation that would equip him for a lifetime of pastoral excellence. His preparation was not merely academic — it was a deep immersion in the Word and in prayer.
His ordination marked the formal beginning of a pastoral life that would touch thousands of souls across Kenya. He served each parish with humility, wisdom, and an unfailing commitment to the Gospel and the welfare of God's people.
Over the decades, he served faithfully in various parishes and dioceses, growing the Church and serving the community beyond its walls — founding outreach programmes, championing education, and standing for the vulnerable.
His elevation to Archbishop was a recognition of a lifetime's faithful service and exceptional leadership. As the head of the JPC Church, he guided the denomination with a shepherd's heart — always available, always prayerful, always pointing to Christ.
Archbishop Kibe leaves behind a transformed church, a strengthened community, and a faith legacy that will carry forward for generations. His influence reaches into families, institutions, and hearts across Kenya and beyond.
“Our Archbishop has finished the race.” In February 2026, he passed into the arms of the Lord he had served so faithfully. He is survived by a church that loves him, a community that misses him, and a God who welcomed him home.

"Archbishop Johana Willie Kibe served the Lord with all his heart. He was not merely our shepherd — he was our father in faith. His love for God, His Word, and His people was evident in everything he did. We will carry his legacy forward with the same commitment and fire that burned in him throughout his ministry."
"We remember his gentle spirit, his powerful prayers, and his unfailing encouragement. Every Sunday he reminded us that we are loved by God. Our church will never be the same without him, but we hold onto the hope of the resurrection he so faithfully proclaimed."
"I first met the Archbishop when I was a young man with no direction. He sat with me for two hours in his office, praying over me and reading the Word. That afternoon changed everything. I will carry his guidance for the rest of my life. Rest well, Baba."
